Author studies and SS
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Fiona,
Jean Fritz would be a great author for your study. I really like Russell Freedman but most of his stuff would need to be read to your group. Scholastic periodically publishes a book list issue of strictly Social
Studies books, you might check their web site. You'll also find short plays in the teacher resource section of the catalogues. (I got the Folktales from Around the World, which were a big hit-not your topic, but there were play books on both topics)
Also, go to Barnes and Noble, hit children's books then search for your topics. I wouldn't choose an age level, because that sometimes
limits possibilities, but when you start checking the reviews you'll get a sense of what might be appropriate. Watch book length as well. Fritz writes some lengthy stuff as well as the ones you were thinking about. Best of luck. ;-D
