making paper
By sally

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Stacy, Here is how I make paper at home and with my 7 year old granddaughter.

I use white art drawing paper from the school art room. This is the stuff that is being thrown away, I just cut away any part that has ink,
paint, pencil etc. on it. Then the remaining paper I/we tear into small pieces, about 1 inch square. This goes into the blender container that is at least half full of water. Turn blender on for 30 sec to a minute, almost the highest speed. Add color by using some colorful junk mail, little bit of confetti, almost anything is ok. When you have a nice MUSH pour all into a tub of
water. Already in this tub you should have a fram with window screen attached. Mix this liquid up with your hands and then quickly and steadily lift out your screen frame. Keep it level. Set thie frame on a flat surface and using a sponge or towels or paper towels or blotter paper soak off as much water as possible. Eventually you will be able to remove or tip the screen over and your NEW paper will come off. Air dry your new paper or between dry paper toweling you can use an iron on a low setting to hurry the drying time.

Email me if you have questions. I have a few other ideas too.
