Sounds like some of them are taking advantage. I made the mistake of calling a parent from my cell phone and didn't realize that with her caller id, she would be able to call me back whenever and HAS at 11 pm one night.
I never answer it though.

I stress to my parents and students that I am available M-F 8-4 at the schools number. I, too am in a low income school and I can understand how you may be worried about students who really need to get in touch with you. I would tell the entire class that you have been receiving some hang up calls and that it has been necessary to contact the police to get

your phone line traced. (which you already have, through caller ID) This way, the police will know who is doing it, and it is illegal to make harrassment calls...leaving no message and repeatedly doing so can be consider harassing. I wouldn't suggest trying any consequences at school, because it is off school time. Good luck!
