Clip to ScrapBook
I taught two of my children in a preschool setting. It wasn't perfect, but preferable to having them somewhere else when I was working. Some of our difficulties stemmed from the fact that my children had a hard time "sharing"
mommy. At second grade your child probably won't have that problem. I liked having my children with me and enjoyed sharing my talents with them in the classroom. I've watched two other teachers include their child in their elementary school classroom and it worked out pretty good both times. You should be willing to change the situation if it is not going well. And you should
talk this over with your administrator and any other second grade teachers in your building. Our district allows this kind of placement, but other districts in our area not only don't allow children in the same class as their parent, they don't allow children in the same BUILDING as their parent! I think that's pretty backward thinking. I know I worked better when I knew my own children were safe and close by.
