subbing in special education
By Pam

Clip to ScrapBook
You should never have been left by yourself. In this case the school set you up to fail. I've never subbed in a special education class that didn't have an experienced para or two. I agree that you should ask whether a para will be there to assist you. If not, turn down the job. If the kids get upset and you can't handle them, it's dangerous for everyone. The paras really know the kids and are an invaluable resource. I won't sub in a special education room that doesn't have a para. I'm not experienced enough and I'm very upfront about that. Hope this helps.
