I am a kindergarten teacher who has a child matching your daughter. My students reads anythin. I use an Accelerated reader program for him each day not to allow him to plateau. I attempted to get him Enrichment but schools
lack bodies and monies to fund programs especially this year with how our schools in NY have no money. I was initially shocked that a 5 yr. old could do this, and I give credit to not only environment, but intelligence. The scrrening with be very unimportant. Even children whom score high, may not be ready in a mature sense. The alphabet is intoduced in Kind. and reading taught
in 1/2. I would go through screening, then speak to the teacher. Although a child may read at a higher level, chances are they are average to above average when it comes to maturity. Kids still need same age play activities as I am sure your child loves to play. I would possibly have her tested by a school counselor or coordinator with a good gifted and talented test to see where she truly is at. I believe, although my book leveler is at school, that Magic School Bus is the end of second grade. There is so much writing that goes along with first and second grade r3eading programs that may times little hands cannot properly write well yet nor do they understand the idea of sentence writing and spacing. I am excited for you to have such an ambitious and bright little girl. Reading problems will never be a talk at your supper table. Best of luck
