I'm not a teacher, but I might have an idea similar to your cut out mag. articles. I'm a computer para-educator at an elementary school. My computer lab is located in our library. Our Librarian was sharing a book with
the kids called The Z Was Zapped by Chris Van Allsburg. Great book!!!! Check it out! While purchasing The Z was Zapped from an online bookstore I also found another picture book from him called The Mysteries of Harris Burdick. The book tells of an author that left his drawings(one drawing for each story the author wrote) with a children's publishing co. The author was never heard
from again. This book has 14 very unusual pictures each with a headline and a one sentence caption. I think it would be great to show a class one of the pictures and have them write their own stories either individually or maybe colaborate in groups. Then share their stories with the class. I'm sure as a teacher you could find many uses for both these books in your classroom.
