The finished individual hexagons were about 8 inches in length. I don't have them in front of me, so I'm guessing. They were big enough to get good pictures on, though. Put together as a group, they made a pretty good-sized mural.

The 3-D nets that we did sound like what you describe. The students draw a picture on each face of the shape.
