We explored the class systems and looked at the differences among the classes. In our journals, students did character writing. Each students had selected a character from a random draw.
We studied ship parts, and did sink and float in science. With a huge box, we built our own ship in the class. Rolling up Bristal Board will give you funnels. We voyaged along with the ship. I had a map of the United KIngdom and North AMerica, and each day we would move the ship along, and discuss some aspect of ship life. When the day came, the ship hit the iceberg. At my students' request, I ripped the ship in half and put it at the bottom of our bulletin board. At the end of our unit, we had a Titanic party. Students dressed accordingly to their characters, examples party dresses and ties for first class...etc..... Thats all I can think about right now.
