Lesson Plans
By Misty

Clip to ScrapBook
One of the easiest lessons I have done in 3rd and 4th is on contractions. You could adapt it to 5th I'm sure. I used those 3" x 8" card strips. I had some in my room or you can make them from cardstock. We worked on about
10 contractions at a time. I made a Powerpoint presentation.
(can't becomes cannot, etc.) If you use the strips the students can write the whole word, then fold it back to where the contraction starts and wtite the rest of the contraction. It sounds confusing, but if you try it it's easy.

You have your hands on, your technology, then you can do an assignment. I also pulled

in the ladder of achievement from Great Expectations on this one. I don't have it with me, but it's kind of like:

I can not do it. 30%
I do not want to. 20%
I will not. 10%

(If your interested let me know) Good Luck!
