Current Events
By Melissa

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi, I am a first year teacher, who is learning a lot as I go. I just taught Current Events the other day to my class, and it was very successful. I had copies of a Time For Kids article that I distributed to the class. (You can use any newspaper, or magazine article)We read it silently, then they read aloud. After, I asked them the age old questions of Who, What, When, Where and Why?. We did it as a class. They all brainstormed the answers. Because we all worked on the same article, it was very easy to tell if they understood it or not. I did another example with them , and then they tried it on their own. It wasn't the most interesting lesson, but it worked.
