I agree with Cathy-Dee and the others. I subbed for six years of my teaching career. (I am now working full-time.) Unfortunately, subs are the low man on the totem pole, so they have to do what is expected of them. Heck,
we as regular teachers have to spend time at school when we would rather be at home--evenings, for example. Sometimes even weekends.

You may have made a mistake if you want to be hired. Principals look for totally congenial people who are willing to go the extra mile. Regular teacher are expected to make a lot of sacrifices on their job.

I might have spoken with an administrator

if the expectation for you was unreasonable. I knew a sub once who was only supposed to sub for 1/2 day in the afternoon. The teacher left the sub with the words, "Correct the papers my kids did in the morning." There was a huge stack of papers, probably not ALL of them from that morning. The sub complained about this to the principal, who backed her up.
