Leaving school early
By lucas

Clip to ScrapBook
Many schools EXPECT substitutes to remain on school grounds until time to leave even if they have nothing to do. I have seen times when school was dismissed early and one is still expected to remain on school property. These
same principals often wonder why there is a shortage of substitutes. It makes no sense why a substitute should remain on school property once the students have left. Also it makes no sense why a substitute cannot leave if their planning period is the last class of the day. Many schools are seeing a shortage in substitutes partly because they are asked to cover classes during their planning
period. Many certified teachers will refuse to cover classes on their planning periods. I just wish districts could call more substitutes so their would not be the shortages occuring. And I wish more administrators would be more reasonable.
