Quitting a job
By Ruth

Clip to ScrapBook
I'm in New York State...our district has a thirty-day notice provision. Depending on how big a pain the superintendent wants to be, it is debatable whether or not you are held to it. Lately, everyone has been working out
their days. In my early days of teaching, this was unheard of, but, especially in the last couple of years, it has become pretty commonplace.

There is a pretty fair supply of teachers in general around here, but some of the specialized fields (special ed, library, instrumental music, foreigh languages) have had problems with replacements

Administration ought to take a look at why people

are willing to uproot themselves and put their students at risk in the middle of the year. It isn't an easy decision for a teacher, but sometimes conditions warrant it.
