phone calls By Cathy-Dee

I agree totally with the others. It's your right and privacy to not accept phone calls at home. I do give out my number because I live in a small town and I want parents to be able to contact me in case of emergencies.| So far in 8 years I have only had 1 parent abuse this priviledge, but if it did start to occur more often, I would get a private line and not give out my number. Our new principal has a private line for that reason as he was well-aware if they had his number he would get no peace. If your parent continues this, simply tell him that you are available at school for phone calls and that | | when you leave school you are on your own time. And that all public servants (police officers, firefighters, etc., are not called by the public at their homes either). The fact that your Principal supports you should hopefully solve the problem as they should simply deal with this parent. Unfortunately not all parents are easily dealt with. I do wonder however what profession this parent has and if he accepts phone calls at home himself? Stick to your policy and I wouldn't worry too much about this parent. Often this type of parent is already well known within the school community and others will not take him too seriously anyway.
