Thank you both for your practical suggestions. I have tried to speak privately with the teacher to make suggestions in a positive way. I am not his boss, after all, but a fellow teacher.

I am fortunate to get a part-time teaching assistant in my room now. She is also going to help with the needy kids.

It also surprises me that this teacher isn't shining the way he should, but he works for two different schools and I know he hates the commute between the schools every day.
