Special Ed teacher By Kelly

What do the IEPs say? I have 3 inclusion children this year and there are VERY specific terms stated in the Ed. plans. They have a specific amount of time for math and language arts with the SpEd.teacher. If he is giving them play time during a time when he is supposed to be providing academic support, them he is not only putting himself, but the school in a VERY bad position. Do you have collaboration time with this teacher? Maybe you could set up a specific time each week, articulate what you do, and then he can do the same. A K. teacher had the same problem with our SpEd. teacher a few years ago. | | She made a 3 column graph. The first column was for the lesson being taught, the second for the objectives that need to be met, and the third was for the SpEd. teacher to fill in with modifications that were made or going to be made to support the students. She asked for it back. It got to the point where she was getting 5 pages back at a time with barely anything written on the. She presented them to the principal. If the parents are complaining, encourage them to talk to your administartor. If he is doing this his first year, I'd be afraid. Generally, new teachers want to shine their first year!!!
