Clip to ScrapBook
I think that most Principals do consider new staff rookies in some ways. I know in our school division any new staff member regardless of how many years experience is to be evaluated several times throughout the year by
the Principal. Although it can be frustrated for a seasoned teacher, the Principal does need to get to know how you teach and what your strengths and weaknesses are.
I agree with the other comment that after the first year, he will probably treat you quite differently.
If it is really affecting your year, I would suggest talking with him. He may think he's being really helpful
and not realize that he's actually making it harder for you.
If all else fails, just smile and know you are an experienced teacher and once the "newness" wears off for your Principal things should fall into place.
