Written Book Reports
By Trine

Clip to ScrapBook
I know what you mean! I finally just came up with my own form for written reports. Determine what you think the purpose of the report is, and then come up with questions for the students to answer according to what they
read. For written reports I also like them to work on writing skills at the same time. My report form includes: a short summary, a paragraph about "how the reader is better or wiser for reading the book", a written quote and explination of a passage worth remembering, and an opinion of what the reader thinks the "best part of the book" was. They include examples to support their thoughts.
They may also add whether or not they even liked the book and their reasons. I use this for 5th grade, but you certainly can modify it to fit into 4th. They only write one or two written reports. For other books I use some of the differnet creative ideas like character posters, journal response writing, 3-D projects, etc. HAVE FUN!
