PTO involvement
By Phyllis

Clip to ScrapBook
HI
I know that in our school when ever there is an event that parents attend (conferences, open house, class play etc.) we have a PTO member as a greeter at the main entrance welcoming parents and reminding them about
all the jobs the PTO does for the school and sign up sheets. We also sent home sign up sheets at the beginning of the year with items like I can help bake cupcakes for reading month or I can help with the school carnival or I can help with what ever. It doesn't necessarily get more parents to the meetings but it does get the word out that more parent help is needed by the PTO. Then someone
in the PTo organizes this list and sends out reminders or calls the parents to remind them that they committed to doing such and such. It has been very successful. Our PTO also has a bulletin board near the entrance with announcements on it, thank you notes, callin for help posters etc.
