At our school, there is a parent meeting once a month. At each meeting, the 4th and 5th grade chorus sings, a grade level does something like a play. During testing times (I teach in North Carolina and we are testing almost every month..) the guidance counselor talks about how they can help the students do well on tests. From what I was told, they used to have competitions between classes to see who could get the most parents to join the PTO and have pizza parties or ice cream parties as a reward.
