The advice about the principal is right on target, I also think that the grade level should be at least 3rd grade. I think the books are wonderful, if you think the wands and brooms will cause too much controversy you could
use the purple, gold stars and stick w/ the good vs evil. Again, the comparison to the fairy tales is right on the money and let's face it any of the classic children's literature is completely filled w/ controversial issues. You might want to check with the previous teachers of your students (you could get quick idea if there are any large immediate objections that might come about
w/ the parents they already know). Good luck, let us know what happens. If you use it I know the students will be thrilled it sounds very new and creative!
