Clip to ScrapBook
In the younger grades you can introduce the concepts via literature. For example, when oyu read a story you can discuss the use of voice or word choice, that way the students get used to hearing those terms to describe writing. There is a book with a title like, "Using Picture Books with Six Trait Writing" (sorry, the book is packed at school and I can't get to it). It hjas actual lesson plans that you can use for all grades. I believe it is put out by the organization that created the Six Trait Writing. You can do a search on yahoo ("six trait writing"); I believe they're called NCREL Organization. The site also has plans and ideas.
