Your system sounds a lot like mine, but I just stroll around the classroom, while they do their 10 minute warm-up, and tell them a 2, 1, or 0. They write it on the paper, and i write it in my book. Then we review answers as a class. I do accept late work, but they have to do the whole thing, and they will still only get a 1. Bigger homework assignments might be worth 4 points. And sometimes, I collect the assignment and it is worth 10 points.

I totally agree with your view on late work. Maybe I won't accept late assignments...or maybe only one day after. Hmmm....
