The Popular Guy
By Renee

Clip to ScrapBook
Jeremy, the same thing happened to a friend of mine.

My friend was offered a job that she wanted but it had a coaching position attached that she felt she wasn't qualified. She was firm in stating that, but she agreed
to take the job on the understanding that she would not have to coach the next year.

But, her plot thickened and she was called back for a job she had interviewed for but didnt get. The person that did left, and she was offered the job -- sans the coaching position.

What did she do? She told the first principal that a offer came up without the coaching position attached so she decided

that it would be better for her and her family to take it. (It also paid more.) Irony of ironies - the principal told her that she had found someone else to coach. (If she had told her that - she wouldn't have gone for that other job!)

Anyway, when you interview, make it clear that your goal is a permanent job -- if you are offered that leave replacement take it but don't sign a contract. Then, if you do get called for a full-time position -- which can happen after school starts and students are counted -- take it.

I know that some people may think that it is unethical -- but it does happen all the time. And, it is part of a competing job market. If someone wants you bad enough, that will go the extra mile to keep you.
