The Popular Guy By Renee

Jeremy, the same thing happened to a friend of mine. My friend was offered a job that she wanted but it had a coaching position attached that she felt she wasn't qualified. She was firm in stating that, but she agreed | to take the job on the understanding that she would not have to coach the next year. But, her plot thickened and she was called back for a job she had interviewed for but didnt get. The person that did left, and she was offered the job -- sans the coaching position. What did she do? She told the first principal that a offer came up without the coaching position attached so she decided | | that it would be better for her and her family to take it. (It also paid more.) Irony of ironies - the principal told her that she had found someone else to coach. (If she had told her that - she wouldn't have gone for that other job!)Anyway, when you interview, make it clear that your goal is a permanent job -- if you are offered that leave replacement take it but don't sign a contract. Then, if you do get called for a full-time position -- which can happen after school starts and students are counted -- take it. I know that some people may think that it is unethical -- but it does happen all the time. And, it is part of a competing job market. If someone wants you bad enough, that will go the extra mile to keep you.
