First of all, I think your ideas are very creative.

However, I think it really depends upon your grade -- which I didn't get if you mentioned it.

For my grade, third, I would not do it. Although I own the books and my son has read them (it hooked him on reading actually.) But he was older. The books have some curse words in them and I think my third graders would go bananas. They freaked out about the word "ass" in Roald Dahl books.

At our middle school, however, they do have a Harry Potter club. 6-8 grades.

Also, a friend of mine had complaints about showing a movie, Casper, from parents.
But I do live in a conservative community where the parents are a presence in the school - a positive presence at that.
