teacher assistant
By KT

Clip to ScrapBook
I feel so priviledged when I have the opportunity to have an assistant in my classroom. I tell my students what an honor and a priviledge it is to have such help. I remind them to use their best manners and use their time
wisely as they would with any guest. Once that groundwork is set I establish consequences. If the student chooses NOT to behave they will be sent back to their seat so my assistant can continue with the others without time wasted. This usually only happens once. I hope you have a working relationship with the homeroom teacher. Perhaps you could offer to meet briefly before school starts
(maybe do lunch!) You could let her know how much you enjoy working with the kids and would like to make it the best year ever. Together maybe you could discuss groundrules and consequences. Have a good year!
