Switching Classes
By Christie

Clip to ScrapBook
My school is also departmentalized and I love it. For 3 years, I taught self-contained and thought that is all there was until last year. I have 4 classes of Reading daily. It is so awesome because my lesson planning is so
much easier. It is hard to keep up with all those students but you will do fine. The kids also do better I think. One of the things that I like about it is the time flies by. I look up and it is lunch and then I look up again and it is 3:15pm. I also like the fact that if a student is testing me,it won't be long till he/she switches to a another class . I think the key to success is organization.
You have to keep on top of everything (grades, lessons, etc.) because it can really get away from you. Also, stay in close contact with the other teachers in your grade. I found that all of us staying on the same page really helped with discipline, parent relationships, etc. Good luck. Let us know how it goes!
