Ideas for Community
By J T

Clip to ScrapBook
I also teach third grade and we do have to study our community. As part of our study, we had a field trip around the community. We all went to the town hall where we had different guest speakers (the mayor, a lawyer, the
town council members, police officers, etc.) talk to the children. After that, we went to the fire department, the police department and the town schools for guided tours. We also had a bus tour that went around the neighborhood. We viewed a few historical homes and learned about different historical sites. I must say it was a lot to coordinate the trip, but it was really well worth
it. We also had community members come into the school to share differnt things with the children. If you need more ideas, let me know at junetroiano@yahoo.com
