Routines

Routines really are so important. I like to post the daily schedule. Luckily, this year I have a magnetic whiteboard. I made little laminated signs with a magnet on the back for each subject and some extras like "Special" and "Field Trip". I put these up in the order they occur in the schedule. Next to the subject sign I write the page numbers or the assignment. The children know which book to get out after recess or gym and which page to turn to. I give little rewards for those who come right in and get out the book and turn to the right page. Smoother transitions and no lost time.
