Peer correcting By Mary

I like the idea of using a yellow crayon to cover the answer. That certainly precludes having answers changed. I also have gotten into the habit of placing grades on the back or last page of a multi-page test or assignment. It | hadn't occurred to me that peer-editing might be a problem, but since it is part of our state curriculum standards for Language Arts, I think any objections would have a tough time getting through (unless the Supreme Court rules otherwise, however). Come to think of it, even my practice of having students share reports and stories in front of the whole class and then having the | | class evaluate whether the rubric criteria were met, might be dicey. Although both of these activities are also part of the State Curriculum Frameworks, I suppose that a case could be made that it violates the student's right to privacy. Boy, if this gets carried out to the fullest extent, we might as well be doing distance learning with our kids so that there is no possibility of generating upset feelings!!! Sheeesh, I'm beginning to feel like we're headed down Alice's hole into Wonderland.
