peer correcting of papers
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
I guess that also includes peer editing of other students' writing? In our SC standards for LA, it says somewhere that students should have opportunities for peer editing. That's a form of correcting papers.

I think
the correcting of papers by students depends upon your class and grade level. I think that older kids can correct papers which are multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, or T/F. However, I correct essays, since I know what answers I will accept. I never had little kids correct each other's paper. However, this year I taugth fifth grade and had the kids do the correcting. The only thing
I didn't like about it was when the kid who corrected the paper announced aloud what the score was. (He got a 55!) I also found that in going over answers that kids supposedly corrected, they missed some items.

I think I will stick with correcting the papers myself.
