student correcting
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
We had a memo from our district last spring with their take on this. We were instructed to send home a school-wide memo stating that student correcting was used at our school. If parents had objections they could come into
the office and make a written request to have their child exempted. No one came in. The second part of the memo dealt with adult volunteers (as does the Supreme Court case). We must now have all our volunteers sign a statement that says the information they may obtain by being in our classroom is private and they cannot divulge it in any manner. I don't know if it does any good other
than protecting the district's back in case of a law suit, but they all signed the paper and hopefully they are keeping their mouths shut concerning student papers they have corrected. I would hope all adults in education understand the position of trust they are in and would be discreet in what they discuss with others anyway!
