GT students
By James

Clip to ScrapBook
Kathy, don't worry. I suspect you'll do fine in your new assignment. Actually, it should be easier teaching an entire class of GT students as opposed to a combination class. I have taught seventh and eighth grade language
arts for twelve years. My best advice is to spend some time thinking about the novels that you will tackle this coming year. Even assuming you have a great text, don't underestimate the teaching value of class novels. There is such a wealth of good young-adult literature today, your choices are many. The Pigman by Paul Zindel (not necessarily a new selection), Ties That Bind, Ties
That Break, by Lensey Namioka (sp?), and how about A Christmas Carol by Dickens. Have you given any thought to Literature Circles. They can be wonderful learning experiences. Good Luck!
