the Great books, The Chocolate Touch, Flat Stanley, Frog and Toad stories, Winnie the pooh Stories, Kipling Stories (How the Camel Got Its' Hump..etc), Marvin Redpost books (Louis Sachar), Wayside School stories. Some that are not as long but are exciting for the kids..The Very Quiet Cricket, The Very Lonely Firefly, The Click Bug (Eric Carle), The Rainbow Fish

(especially if you give them little flakes of foil at the end.) and Finding the Green Stone, if you give them a green stone to keep in their pockets.
Oh there are sooo many more and I have many in my classroom but I just cannot think. maybe these will give you a start though.
