Reading tutoring
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi CC,
I'd suggest you get the professional resource, 'Guided Reading' if you feel the child is within a K-2 reading level. This book will help you with teaching him to problem solve using balanced reading strategies.
You as his tutor will need to assess him; have you done running records or miscue analysis before? A great assessment tool (if you're familiar with the above) is the 'Developmental Reading Assessment'. In addition to doing a running record for strategy information, it gives guidelines for retellings as well as a short interview on affect and motivation. If you've never done a running
record/miscue analysis, there are several titles you might get to help with this as well.
He will need to use Meaning-Does it make sense? Structure-Does it sound right? and Visual-Does it look right? to search and confirm as he reads. If you want more ideas, please post or email...
Debbie ;-D
