Managing Writer's Workshop
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Trisha,
I found it easiest to make up a 'group grid'. Turn your 8 1/2 X 11 paper horizontally and make a grid with 6 columns, the first is blank, the next ones are marked M-F. Down the left side, your rows would have
headings for the various activities you want to keep track of...I mainly kept track of writing conferences and shared/guided reading, and literature conversations. I used another grid (more like a grading spread sheet) to keep track of who was where in the writing process (prewriting-PW, drafting-D, revision-R, editing-E, publishing-P) on a daily basis, by the 'status of the class'
method. I used this grid to decide which kids I needed to see daily/weekly and those were transfered to the weekly group form. Hope this helps...Good luck. Debbie ;-D
