This is my sixth year in teaching. I have seen a money system be very effective with classroom discipline. Although I have never seen this system used with a checkbook, I have seen teachers use "real" money and use the same
concept. I think you are going to find at the beginning of the year this is going to take some serious time to develop. Basically, you are going to have to have prices for everything that you do. There are somethings that I just expect my kids to do without any type of incentive. I can also see a problem with your low students in grasping the concept of a checkbook and adding and
subtracting as they mess up. You may want to consider letting them use calculators at the beginning of the year until they grasp the concept. Consider some methods that make them more responsible and not you having to keep up with a million and one things.. Good Luck
