Clip to ScrapBook
In the school I was in last year, one of the 4th grade teachers had gotten rid of her desks and was using round tables. She had crates for each table to store their supplies. She said that after the beginning confusion of students knowing when and how to get materials and books, the seating worked very well. She did a lot of cooperative group activities using that seating arrangement. For the hands-on activities you mentioned, it seems to be perfect. She also had a loveseat, cozy cushions, and carpet squares for the students to use and the student really like it. It was a different experience for them being without desks but I think it was a good one. Good luck with what you decide to do.
