another problem
By Linda

Clip to ScrapBook
This is part of the problem with AR--kids are not suppose to read below their level. Research in reading proves that in order for students to become better readers, they need to read a lot of books that are easy. That doesn't mean a student with a fifth grade reading level should be reading second grade books. But in order to read fluently, they need to read a lot at their independent level, not their instructional or frustrational level. Too many kids are not reading at their independent level with AR. Besides, the STAR test puts most kids at their instructional or frustrational level, not their independent reading level.
