I also dislike the "teachers pet" name..It would give parents and others a negative feeling. I called mine the teacher's assistant and they loved this! I tried to gear their duties as being more "teacher oriented".. This was chosen completely at random at the beginning of the week, but you had to continue to earn that privilege all week. If you just let "great" behaved students do it the others will start to resent it and you might have some problems..Therefore, give everyone a chance and you might be surprised..
