plan/prep time
By Rebecca

Clip to ScrapBook
Your first year teaching will be very busy. I stayed after school every day for several hours. That first year you are trying to get everything in place (starting with next to nothing). However, it does get a little better!
That good planning you do the first year helps you in the long run. Of course you will still be busy but nothing like that first year!

We have observations for the first three years of teaching here in my system. My third year was much better though. I had a system going by then and I didn't bring much home to grade. That was time for my family!

Now that I have tenure and

going back for my fourth year, things are slowing down a bit. However, it does become a way of life. I want the best for my students and I'm always on the lookout for ways to improve or enhance my lessons. There are a lot of great websites (this one especially)to help you along.
However, DON'T forget time for yourself and your family. They are the ones that have loved and supported you through this.
Hope this helps. Good Luck with your first year of teaching. Have confidence in yourself. You'll do great!
