New board By Nessa

"...and I still don't believe a teacher has the right to share her/his beliefs with a child, whether it's in a public or private school...We're too important and influential in a child's life; They need to hear ALL viewpoints| in order to make an informed decision regarding religion, politics, etc. when they're able and have as much information as possible..." I would agree with this if I were teaching in a public school or private, but as a teacher in a specific religion school it is my priority to teach that religion. So, I do not have that choice. Parents pay money to send their child to the school | | I teach for- for the Religion. Maybe that is the confusing issue between private and parochial. And I do go post on other boards, but the comfort level isn't there to post about religion because if I am looking for ideas for example for First Communion and how other teachers that teach First Communion do it at their school. I want the information that I am asking for, not a debate as to whether it should be done at all. Debates sidetrack the issue and then there is no feedback for the original posting. "...I do wonder when I see posts for ideas on a religious holiday, is he/she sticking to traditions/customs of a culture of somehow allowing religious beliefs to enter into the teaching in a public school, and again I have NO problem with the teaching of (all world) religion(s) in a public school, as long as the instruction is devoid of a teacher's point of view..." This is a great point for why we need a private school board-How do you know that teacher is even a public school teacher? Have a great summer!!
