new board
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
I think some of the responses we've seen point to how a board for private schools which would include many schools (Christian, Catholic, Islamic, Jewish, possibly Charter, etc.,) would be very beneficial. This way we can
freely discuss those issues that do concern these schools without getting into the debates that we've even seen happening with just the proposal of such a board.

Many private schools (even in Canada) are not publicly funded. They are funded by the parents who do expect the teachers to discuss and share their beliefs and faith with their students. The nice thing about our countries

is that we do have the freedom of religion, choice, etc., I do know that there are Jewish schools, Islamic schools, and others. I fully expect that they teach their customs and beliefs within their curriculum.

Religion is never going to be an easy topic to discuss. We can argue back and forth for years to come as to what is acceptable and not acceptable within public school settings. And regardless of which viewpoint, there will always be someone whose belief system is being ignored or challenged.
