Pocket Folders or Binders?

I teach 5th grasde, and my rulke is no binders. The reason is that they don't fit into the desk. I use a different pocket folder for each subject. The kids like choosing their 6 folders. (I send the supply list home before schoool.) The first day of school, I supply computer labels, and we label the folder in the same place (top right of cover--it sounds obvious, but it's not). One year one of the boys begged me for permission to use a 3 ring binder so he would always have his homework home. I said okay and he then forgot to takethe binder home most of the time. Also most binders are so big they end up on the floor or desk top instead of inside. No binders!
