Easel
By Helen

Renee,
It depends on where you will use it. Some are disigned for tabletops, others for the floor.
I have made a very simple big book easel by using what here in the south used to be used as tobacco sticks..sticks
used to tie tobacco on to cure in the old barns.
Your husband could probably find similar sticks in Lowes or Home Depot. They were about 1inch x 1inch x five feet. Might have something similar to stake tomatoe plants or beans??? You would need three and 1/2 of those. Put three side by side and drill a hole across through all three..insert a long screw and a wing nut..tighten.
You may need to spread the outside legs into an A SHAPE..and in doing so may bend the screw some. Lay the 1/2 stick across about ????? 2/3 of the way down..you can lay it across where ever you think you need it..and nail to first and third stick.
Now stand up the easel by propping with the middle stick..no you are not through yet!!!!! Find where it balances and stands best..then use three eye screws and at an even height from the floor screw one in each leg of the easel...then tie a string, or leather shoestring or attach a fine chain if you want to be fancy..through all three eye screws...so back leg cannot open out toooo far. You can paint or stain before adding the string.
Sounds complicated when I write it but is a very simple easel and easily folded flat to store.
