accelerated reader prizes

Clip to ScrapBook
I am sure the prizes are driving you crazy- probably since it is a distraction when students go to receive the prizes etc. I often find my self wondering why are we constantly rewarding students for expected behavior and goals. I feel that students should be rewarded when they go BEYOND what is expected of them. When students are rewarded for expected behavior they do not see the need to excel beyond that. Isn't that what we would like all of them to do???
