Keeping track of writing
By Traci

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi! I teach 4th grade. Each student has their own "author folder" in which they keep all of their writing. Also included is an edit checklist, writing rubric, and misspelled words list.
In order to keep track of where
each student is in their writing piece, I have a large size white board. On the board I have the following headings that I made on the computer and attached them to an index card: brainstorming/first draft, reading to the wall (students face a wall and read their first draft aloud to themselves), share with a partner, editing, final draft, and editors on duty(any student who is finished
with their writing can add their name and be of assistance to other students). Students then write their name underneath the proper heading. This makes it easier for me to see where each student is.
Hope this helps.
Traci
