First days of School
By Pam

Clip to ScrapBook
I have taught for 2 decades and still spend hours and hours each summer planning. I will hardly sleep the nights before the new year begins! As for discipline-you are anxious to get into your new school to find out what the principal expects, how you get supplies, what your grading policy for the school is, what your curriculum guides say, what the state guidelines are, etc. Well, your students are wondering the same things-what will she expect-how hard is the work -can I sit by my friends-does she give tons of homework-does she smile-can I use the bathroom if I really have to go---you get the idea-they want information on expectations. You need to give it to them and then repeat it and repeat it and practice it. You can be kind and still "the boss."
