too much
By Suzanne Schiavoni

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi, Carol. I do think the prep for the fourth grade testing is too much, but my complaining won't help, (although I continue to do it!). I love the curriculum and the age level, so I will take the trade off. I have seen
an incredible improvement in children's work over the years, and I have to attribute some of that to the higher standards. To be honest, I feel worse for the third grade teachers. They are the ones (in my school, anyway) that have the toughest challenge, especially with the ELA.

As far as handling the extra pressure that is put on 4th grade teachers... happy hours. Just kidding!
I think having other fourth grade teachers with whom to collaborate is essential. I also think that having an administrator that is encouraging, sympathetic and trusting helps.

How about you? What are your feelings?
Suzanne
